This event is free to spectators.

Male & Female Speed Climbing World Cup & Lead Difficulty World Cup

Elite, Junior (U22), Youth (U19 & U16) categories

This is the only internationally sanctioned UIAA (International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation)/AAC (American Alpine Club) Ice Climbing World Cup to be held in North America for the 2016-2017 season. In addition to the World Cup, we are hosting The North American Ice Climbing Championships during this event.

We are excited to be at the center of ice/mixed climbing in America and on the forefront of developing an emerging Winter Olympic sport.  These events are the stepping stones for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to recognize the USA’s involvement, while enhancing our stature as a leader in this burgeoning sport.

Our focus at this event is two pronged. First, to allow Durango local, UIAA Youth Commission Member, and Youth USA Team Coach, Marcus Garcia, to hand pick a youth team to represent the USA at the UIAA Youth World Cup in Champagne, France next February.  Second, to assist the AAC and Marcus in selecting the USA adult team to compete at other international competitions leading up to the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup Championships.

With a combined prize purse of more than $9,000, expect a jaw dropping display of ice/mixed climbing full of excitement and passion.
